Update format of existing mobile phone numbers in outlook

George

Current format = (04) xxxx-xxxx

When synced with Nokia N85 or Nokia N96, the numbers are transferred in
exactly this format. However - for some reason - the names are not
registering when people call or when I get messages. I suspect that this is
because the numbers provided by the movile carriers here is Australia is in
the format - +614xxxxxxxx.

Note that the zero is dropped and the dash is removed. I can manually
change the field to match this as follows

Control Panel > Phone & Modem Options > Create Location = Sydney with
Country/Region = Australia and Area Code=61. Then I have added area code
entries (2,3,7) for the states I call most often and under these, have
enabled the "Include the Area Code" option.

Now in outlook, I can manually replace the '(04) ' with '+614' and can also
remove the dash - BUT - I have 400+ contacts and I would rather not have to
do them all manually.

QUESTION : Is there a way I can automate this search and replace? Is it
possible to JUST do the mobile number column?

I have looked through Nokia's sync interface and cannot see anywhere where I
could change the format during transfer.

Thanks in advance.

If you're comfortable with VB code, PhoneChanger found at
http://www.slovaktech.com/phonechanger.htm could prove helpful. I've used
it to make mass changes to phone numbers. I imagine it could be written to
modify the mobile number.
