Update Failure

Keith Watterson

When I select the Items for updating, ie I have 2 critical
updates required. I select them and and the
final "Download" dialog appears but NOTHING downloads, it
just sits there. Any clues anyone ?

Hi Keith

No, nothing wrong with the log file. Try this - go to the following folder in Windows Explorer - Programs Files\Windows Update\V4 - copy/move a file called iuhist.xml to another location - then delete that folder - no need to worry it won't have any effect on the updates that you have already installed. Try Windows Update again and scan. Before you download/install the Updates put the iuhist.xml file back where it came from - the V4 folder would have been re-created.

Also, have you reset your protection software recently, in particular, the
built-in firewall, ZoneAlarm, etc.? I would try disabling all and try
again. I have to admit that I myself have never had problems downloading
Windows updates while still running these firewalls in the background.
