DVDFab Decrypter copies entire DVD movie to hard disk,

and Sony ARccOS) while copying.

and removal engine.

Follow-up question here: I looked at this link and see two programs which
appear to do the same thing. Am I myopic? Is one preferred over the
other?

Color me confused...

The "Free DVD" program is a "filter" kind of program,
similar to the program "DVD43" http://www.dvd43.com/
or the shareware program AnyDVD from Slysoft.com.

"DVDFab Decrypter" is a DVD ripper program,
similar to the old "DVD Decrypter" program.

I would suggest that you use "DVDFab Decrypter"
to backup you DVD disc to your harddrive.
And then shrink it with "DVD Shrink"
(you find DVD Shrink at BetaNews.com)
Sometimes "DVD Shrink" can't open a disc that is "ripped"
with "DVDFab Decrypter" then you need to run the "FixVTS"
http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/
to fix the ripped files.
