Unzip files to subfolder on double click?

Q

quickquestion

There is a program called justzipit whose only functionality is that
when you double click a zip file, it extracts the zip to a subfolder
of the current directory.

The problems with that program are that it only handles zips and it
has a nag web page that pops up semi-randomly when the program is run.

Programs like izarc and 7zip are able to put context menu options to
do the same thing, but while the context menu is fast and convenient,
double clicking is fast and convenient enough.

I've tried altering the command in tools - folder options - ... -
advanced - open but for one reason or another, no program has ever
enabled me to expand a compressed file to a same-name subdirectory
with just a double click.

Has anyone come up with a way to expand compressed files to
subdirectories with just a double click, preferably free?

Could it be done by using a .bat file?

Windows Xp can do that. RUn this from Start > run to restore the WinXp's zip :
regsvr32.exe zipfldr.dll

Good Luck, Ayush.

Q

quickquestion

Ayush, are you sure?

When I last tried double clicking a zip folder I got a wizard that
required more clicks before the file was expanded in place.

Is there a way to configure the MS tool to skip the wizard?

Also it would be great to find a free solution that also does rars and
other files.

Yup. I am sure. After running that command, you can double click a zip file
and that zip file will open just like a folder!

Good Luck, Ayush.
