unwanted toolbar

Hello everyone

For a while now, I've had an unwanted toolbar sitting in the IE6 window. It
introduces itself, on rightclick, as "free dale frag", and yes, there is
such a thing as "free dale"; the usual ad-stuffed,
get-free-allpapers-provided-we-can-fill-your-computer-with-crap site. No
instuctions on how to get riud of it, though. My kids use Messenger a lot,
and searches I made indicate that there is a loophole in that for this
specific brand of garbage.

Now, since the toolbar obviously consists of images, I need to know:

1) Where do these images reside in my system, so I can kick them, and
2) Where can I find, and change, the settings for IE6?

1) The images reside, probably, in your Temporary Internet
Files directory. Easiest way to get rid of them is in IE
go to Tools | Internet Options and click the button marked
Delete Files. All the images and other related stuff your
computer has collected from surfing the web will be
deleted. You should do this every time you log off IE.

As a side note, since most people never change the default
settings, when you are on that screen click the Settings
button. At the top of the page check the first radio
button which says to get a fresh copy of a page every time
you visit that page. Just below that you can see a setting
for how much disk space you want to use to store the
temporary internet files. It's probably some large number
like 600 megs. Set it to a low number like 6. Click OK on
this screen and OK again to close the main screen.

When you set that number it will only use 6 megs of space
to store the temporary internet files and no more. When
the space gets full the oldest files collected will be
automatically deleted.

2)As far as removing spyware/malware, get copies of
Ad-Aware and Spybot (both free) and run them. They should
get rid of most if not all the unwanted cruft from your system.

Thanks, I hadn't taken that particular garbage out for a long time, and I
learnt to decrease the cache, too; it was set ridiculously high. The
"pictures" were not there though, but sprang from a directory named Anti
Army Extra in Program Files. Four files and a reg entry. I was advised to
download ToolbarCop in the microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.setup
group. That did it! I've been on this all day, and learnt quite a lot along
the way. Thanx for your assistance!

Sincerely
