unwanted stuff in the favorites folder

All my original bookmarks have been replaced my multiple
files and folders including windows folder. Can some one
help with an explanation and resolution.

Have you checked for viruses? Did you run Checkdisk?

Thanks for your response, another participant provided a
solution, I needed to reset the shell folders, ref. the
reply to "non-url files are in my favorites folder'
