unwanted .ole extensions

For some unknown reason Excel 2007 is added .ole extensions to spreadsheets
which contain no embedded objects and are subsequently being blocked when
emailed over the network. These spreadsheets have activex turned off and have
no macros. They are being saved as *.xls, but when emailed, the .ole
extension is being added and is being quarentined by the virus scanner. I
have tried everything I can think of to not have the .ole extensions added,
but have had no success. This is becoming a real problem throughtout the
company. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Given the above, sounds like something your email program is doing (or maybe
a "helpful" security go between like Norton..). You might want to ask them.

We are using Outlook 2000 and 2007 throughout the company with McAfee
Enterprise as the antivirus solution. Is there anywhere within Outlook that
could be checked to see if it is added these extensions?
