unwanted icons

To keep me from being murdered by my wife please help me! I made the mistake of visiting a questionable web site (retired with to much time to waste) and now I have these unwanted (adult) icons on my desktop. How do I get rid of them and is there some wak to prevent this in the future ( I know I'll stay out of those places). Any help will be appreciated. Thanx.
