Unwanted Homepage and Favorites

I must have visited some website that changed my homepage
and put some unwanted favorite on my machine. I use
regedit to reset the values and delete any adware that I
can find, but the page resets to the unwanted stuff
whenever I restart. My Antivirus says I'm protected, but
my system keeps resetting. Any ideas?
Thanks

I've had the same problem. No matter how many times I
reset my settings in regedit, they always reset to the
hijacked links. Whatever it is also prevents me from
clicking on my internet settings or display settings in my
control panel. They appear for a split second and then
disappear. My spyware and virus software won't remove
them. Tonight I'm going to try something I just read in
one of the strings below entitled "ad & adware". Click on
it and read the site that it recommends downloading from
to solve this problem. I should know by tomorrow if it
works or not.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean the security
setting in my Tools/Internet options?
Thanks for the help.

Hey I found something that seemed to be part of the
problem. In WINNT, there was a folder named SYSFU.
It had some adware and one thing that I couldn't delete
until I started up in safe mode. Then I got rid of it and
things seem to be back to normal. I'll see how it is in a
few days. Good luck.

Try going to the bottom of the unwanted homepage and see if there is a link in very small letters that says "Got a problem". Hit on the link if it there and it will bring you to a page what will give you instructions how to get all that unwanted stuff off your computer. I believe it really did the job since I was able to identify some registry keys that should not have been there through HijackThis.exe. I had to bring that program in from another machine and a diskette. After I ran the "clean" instructions I ran HijackThis.exe again and none of the unwanted registry keys were there.
