unwanted a dotted veritcal line prints on document

Please help. On this one letter a dotted line prnts on the right side of the
paper no matter what I do I can not get it to go away. This is only on the HP
1020 not on the HP 1023.

This sounds like a printer driver issue. I would check to see if HP has an
updated driver. If not, then I would try the HP 1023's driver on the 1020 to
see if the problem goes away (assuming the drivers are not significantly
different).
