Unusual Sharing Error???

Hi All,

I keep getting the following error when trying to save a workbook - The
workbook it NOT shared (never has been either - I don't use workbook
sharing):-

"The document was saved successfully, but Excel cannot re-open it because of
a sharing violation. Please close the document and try to open it again."

Any ideas what may be causing it??

I don't think this error refers to the Tools menu sharing but file sharing
in the general sense. Anyway, I didn't find anything exactly on point in
the MSKB. You might want to look at this though. Sorry I have not
personally run into this problem.

Jim,

Thanks for your help - this specific error does not seem to turn up many
results when searched in the usual places. I have experienced this before
but it always seems to go-away before I can work out what causes it. I had
a look at your suggestion and I doubt that it is connected with that (thanks
anyway)

I think it occurs when you have a spreadsheet with a large number of
calculations and for some reason it hangs while calculating. You then have
to stop excel and restart it. At a guess I think that the file may still
appear to be open by me even though it has closed.

As my understanding of the exact way excel closes a file is limited, there
may be a part that changes a flag to state who has the file open.

Thanks anyway

Andy
