Unstable toolbar

T

Terry

Sure hope someone can help me with a particular problem I
have with Windows XP. No matter what I do, I can't
stabilize my "toolbar" settings. I can "lock" the
settings but they may last two or three screenviews, or
they may last until the next day when I start up my
computer again.

What usually happens is that the "search" toolbar adds
itself and the "address" toolbar goes missing. I have to
"unlock" the toolbars and "uncheck" the "search" and "re-
check" the "address" bar again, and "lock" them again.
And, like I say, that may work for a few screens or it may
last a day. No consistency at all.

Please...it's not life threatening, but it sure is
aggravating!!

Thanks for any help,

Terry

Hi Terry,

See if this helps: It will rest the Toolbars to Default. The second one
will Save Settings on Exit.

Restore Missing Toolbars in IE and/or Windows Explorer (Line 3)

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

If this is not the default Search bar but third party:

Remove Added IE Toolbar Entries (Line 174)
