when I click on an incoming message, try to send a composed one, I get the
hour glass and nothing happens. After I ctrl/alt/del I get the message
box"microsoft not responding. I have to end task several times before it
closes and I am back where I started. Can I reload Outlook only from my XP
Small Office CD or does the whole thing have to be loaded, or will this help
at all?

When this happens, check your Windows Task Manager to see how many instances
of Outlook.exe are running. If more than one, check to see if one of the
following applies:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support
for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Cover Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing
mail.
