cannot open, create, or reply to messages

Using Win98 (I know - we're a non-profit and money's tight!) and Outlook
2000, today we can receive e-mail, but can't create new, or open an existing
to read it. It was working yesterday. As far as I know, user did not change
anything from shutting down yesterday to booting this morning and opening
Outlook. There are new e-mails that have been received today.
Symptom - click on new (to create new message) and the hour glass appears -
nothing further, even after several minutes.
Symptom - click on received message and the hour glass appears - nothing
further. Both times have had to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to close Outlook.
Attempted - shut down and reboot - still the same problem
Attempted - to create new account (making it the default) - still the same
problem (of course Outlook still opens the existing e-mails, etc.)
Attempting - repair Office (this will take some time)
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you connecting to an Exchange or other mail server? Is there a cap on the
employee mailbox? If not, have you tried logging the employee onto another PC
and setting their email up on that one to see if the problem persists (that
way you can determine if it's the user or the PC)? Does the user have a PST?
What size is it?

Kathleen - thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. I have no idea how or
what - but now it's working. I will definitely keep your questions in my
"arsenal" for future use.
