Unselecting columns or rows..

Hi,

How does one unselect a whole column or row from a selection? Just ctrl or
shift clicking on that column or row doesn't work. Ctrl shift will add new
columns and rows to a selection set, however.

Unfortunately, the answer is "Start Over".....
