unsecapp.exe

A new program has showed up in Task Manager - unsecapp.exe. It runs
everytime Windows XP Pro starts up. There are no new programs in my start up
group to account for this. The only thing I have done recently is to update
my nvidia graphics and chipset drivers, but there is no information in any of
their forums about this application.

Does anyone know what this program is, why it is running, and if it is not
useful for anything how I stop it from loading?

Thanks,
Fr. Craig

You can ignore it since it's a standard operating system file. It runs as
part of the WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management) subsystem and performs
various functions such as network diagnostics.

IF Fr. Craig says that the unsecapp.exe program just recently started appearing in Task Manager, and that he does not have any new programs, how is it that it's standard operating system file? Shouldn't he (and me, just recently) have seen that program in Task Manager from day one?

This program just appeared in my Task Manager as well; I run XP SP2, have not installed any new programs BUT I did update my ATI Radeon Xpress 200 driver last night. Today, the unsecapp.exe is in my Task Manager.

So basically, what is it really, why is it considered standard op file if it is only just appearing after updating graphics drivers?
