My computer is CRAP!!!!.... I can't use it more than 30-
40 minutes without it "locking" up on me. I usually have
to hit ctl+alt+del to open up the Task Manager and "End"
the program that way. When I try to go back to the same
program it is completely unresponsive. If I double click
on the icon it does nothing. If I right click and try to
open it, nothing. If I go to start menu and use
the "run" option it still does nothing. Under normal
circumstances I can open a couple of other programs and
then go back to the program I need and the program I need
will respond, sometimes positively, and other times
unpositively.
I'm using Symantec's Norton Utilities on my computer
and I often do "Disk Checks" (Disk Dr.), to make it
short, I do all the computer checks about 2-3 times a
week, plus I optimize my disks' at least 2 times a
month. Nothing seems to help and I"m about to give up
and beat the sh#$ outta this thing. Anyone need a just
over 1yr old 80 Gig X 2, 750 MB Ram, with brand new 250
MB NVIDIA video card, and brand new Sound Blaster 5.1
Sound Card computer? Yep I bought all new "junk" in
hopes of fixing this POS. Next is a new Mother
board.
I'm frustrated beyond belief and I'm about to give up and
end it all with a baseball bat. Louisville slugger
unless anyone else has a better suggestion? Either
better ball-bat suggestion or a fix. Either one is welcom

If the lock up is consistently after x amount of minutes, suspect some kind
of hardware problem. Overheating is common. Clean out dust, check
fans and replace fans if necessary.

A slight crack on a critical component that expands and fails only when a
certain temp is reached is possible too. However these are more difficult
to track down. May need to have a tech with proper tools do some
component testing to find this kind of problem.
