UNRESOLVED problem: An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files.

M

mbvetnet

I can't seem to find a solution to this problem. It
seemed to happen overnight and I never changed any of my
settings. It's not a "security/permissions" issue since
that feature is disabled on my system since I use
FrontPage from my hard-drive. Anyway, when I go to save
a picture to my page (which I had done numerous times
before without issue) I now get an error message...

"An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files.
Authors - if authoring against a web server, please
contact the webmaster for this server's site.
Webmasters - please see the server's system log for more
details."

There is no problem with my online server since I can
publish from FrontPage, but unexplicably I now can't save
an embedded file (ie picture).

PLEASE help me!

Import all images into your current open FP web prior to inserting or using within your web.

That's what I've been doing... and now it's no longer
working. I save the image (it saves as an embedded file
and moves to the list of files and components in my file
view)... Now it won't work. I get that error message.

If you import the image prior to using it in your current open FP web, you will never see the save
embedded image/file prompt.

I get the same error message. Besides, I haven't had to
do this in the past. It is a sudden and recent problem.
My methods have not changed.

How are you getting the same error message using File Menu | Import or drag-n-drop the image into
your current open web, then inserting it on your page?

When you import an image, FP will not adjust the image quality, which it does when it prompts you to
save the image.

I am getting the same error message when I "ok" the
import! Regardless, something is wrong! I'm trying to
figure out how to uninstall FrontPage since it is part of
my Microsoft Office package without uninstalling the
other programs. Under control panel and everywhere it is
linked to the other programs. I think my program got a
glitch and it needs to be removed somehow and reinstalled.

If you drag-n-drop or import the image into a folder in your open web prior to using, you will not
get any type of prompt, unless the file is 1 MB or larger and you are running FP2000 under Windows
XP, in which case you may get an error message.

Under Add/Remove, select Office application, then uncheck FP, however trying running Repair first,
if the above doesn't work

Also try the usual repairs in the sequence below:

1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

I am having problems also, it used to work very easy, now no matter what I do I can't get video to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both office xp and office pro 2003 but nothing changed and still can't get video to work except in preview or on my file manager but no one can see it from thier browser so it is probily not a prob, with your frontpage but something else as my problem happened rescently and suddenly too. I import video before inserting player and put in correct path and data but still no video so lots of luck. I have been trying for a month now
