Unresolved items, BCM 2007 with smartphone

I have outlook 2007 with BCM, and have installed the version for my
smartphone. Frequently, when syncing, I get an error re "unresolved
items", with no hint of how to resolve them.

Error support code 86000108
Clicking "resolve items" just initiates a new sync, with no apparent
effect.

Any ideas?

Motorola Q running WM 6, smartphone
ActiveSync 4.5.0, build 5096
