Hi

I have a win2000 professional machine which was working fine until I installed service pack 4

Now when I select "Microsoft Windows Network" it will display the workgroup the computer belongs to, but when I select the work group I get the Message "The volume does not contain a recognised file system" - I am only trying to view the workgroup

Alsok, when I put a floppy disk in I always get a message saying the disk needs to be formatted (in fact, if I select Drive A even when there is NO disk in it will give me the same message)

I assume I will just have to uninstall service pack 4, but would really like to know why these things are happening, I have never seen anything like it

(BTW, I have remove the PC from the workgroup and re added it. I have uninstalled the adapter, protocols etc and reinstalled them, even put the adapter in a different slot. On each boot I also get a "Workstation" error - could not load any transport" but I can only find reference to this message when computers are joining a domain)

Anyone with any ideas???

Thanks
E :)

Hi,

I have a win2000 professional machine which was working fine until I

"The volume does not contain a recognised file system" - I am only trying
to view the workgroup.

Alsok, when I put a floppy disk in I always get a message saying the disk
needs to be formatted (in fact, if I select Drive A even when there is NO
disk in it will give me the same message).

I assume I will just have to uninstall service pack 4, but would really

Anyone with any ideas????

Try removing your antivirus software. It is possible that its file system
filter driver has become corrupted.
If this resolves the problem, you should be able to reinstall it and still
be ok....then check the website for an update
