Unprotecting a Workbook in Excel 2003

W

Hi All! I need to unprotect (forever) a workbook in Excel 2003. I've
tried doing what Help says (Tools > Protect > Unprotect Workbook); however,
no matter whether I save the document, or resave as a new document, the file
keeps coming up as either a read only or as a password protected documented.
I need it to be just a regular ole document!!

Thanks for any help!!

There are lots of levels of protection in excel.

worksheet protection (tools|protection|protect sheet)
workbook protection (tools|Protection|protect workbook)

and at least one more:

File|SaveAs|Tools|General Options|Password to open (and password to modify)

It sounds like you really want the last one.

hi,

try to check if the read only recommended on the save options pressing F12
or file save as, click on Tools > General Options.
