To ungroup sheets, right-click on a sheet tab and "Ungroup sheets".
This type of "grouping" is not the type you see in Data>Group and Outline
which goups data on sheets.
You group sheets by selecting one then right-click and "select all sheets" or
by CRTL + Click on individual sheets or by SHIFT + Click on first sheet then
another to include those in between.
A WORD OF CAUTION.......while your sheets were grouped, any changes made to
one would have been done to all others in the group.
Perhaps you should check each sheet for accuracy. You may have had these
sheets grouped for a while.
The "linking" to other sheets and books should not pose a problem.

yes the word GROUP is in the title bar.
there are several worksheets in the work book.
How do I ungroup? I found the group and outline feature
but its also greyed out.
Also each worksheet is linked to several other workbooks.

Any chance you have more than one worksheet selected? If
so, you should see
the word [group] in your Title Bar.
