Unneeded username + password dialog on startup

Recently a new UserName+Password dialog box has started to appear when
starting Windows XP Home edition. I presume that it's a result of an
automatic update. I'm the sole User, and have no password. Therefore this box
is an unnecessary delay in starting my PC. Unfortunately, there is no obvious
way to get rid of it, even in the User Settings. I'm accustomed to switching
the PC on, and going away to do something else while it's powering up, and
then returning to see my desktop. It is annoying either to have to wait until
this box appears, and then click 'OK' before going away, or to come back to
the PC and find the box sitting there waiting for me to click 'OK', and then
have to wait further. How can I get rid of this box, please? Here's a
description of it:
Title = "Log On to Windows";
Upper half is light blue, with logo "Windows XP" "Home Edition";
"Copyright 1985-2001";
Lower half is grey, with "User name:" + textbox, "Password:" + textbox;
"EN" highlighted in dark blue;
Buttons: 'OK', 'Cancel' (disabled), 'Shut Down', 'Options <<'.

Here are two options.

1. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft. TweakUI is
available here.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI.
Click the + sign next to Logon in the left hand column.
Click on Autologon.
In the right hand pane, put a check mark in the box next to
"Logon automatically at system startup".
Enter the name of your user account in the User Name box.
Hit the Set Password button and enter your password twice.
Note: You should skip this step if your account has a blank
password.
Click OK to close TweakUI.
Restart your computer to see if you get the desired results.

2. Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on the account you
want to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.
