Unmounting unprotected drive where PageFile is located

C

Chris Mabey

Hello,

I have a system as follows. EWF protected C: drive with an unprotected D
using HORM.

I would like to move the pagefile to the unprotected D: volume so as not to
fill up the EWF RAM. I have searched the newsgroups high and low and have
not found the answers (in full) to my questions, so here goes.

1. Is this a good idea to have the pagefile on an unprotected volume.
2. As I am using HORM I have to unmount the D: unprotected volume before
hibernating. However as the pagefile is located on the D: volume I cannot
dismount the volume. Is there a way of stopping the pagefile, unmounting the
drive and hibernating succesfully.

Many thanks
Chris

I don't think this post is valid. But you may want to take a look at it.
I'd be interested, if you find a solution to this, since I would like to do
the same thing.

I have not been sucessful with dismounting the drive which holds the pagefile.
Everything I've tries points to having to reboot, and start without a
pagefile.

I suspect you can disable the pagefile, reboot.
Then enable the pagefile, and save this state in the hibernate file.

Then on every subsequent bootup, a pagefile will be created.
(Hopefully this works, and does not slow bootup too much.)

Thanks Paul,

I thought this was probably asking too much. I am hoping that the solution
is to run the system without a page file.
