I have a problem unmounting C: drive, it will not let me.
I go to Disk Management I right click on C: drive, then i
click on "Change drive letter or paths" I click
on "remove" buttton, and it will not remove the mounting
on c: drive, instead an error will show "Cannot remove the
drive letter of your system or boot volume"

I need to remove the mounting on the C: drive so i can
perform a format in the C: drive and install a new OS
system windows XP.

thanks for helping me.

Javier

It is not lying to you when it says that you cannot do that. Boot up with
your W2K CD and choose to format and install the OS from within the Windows
setup steps.

If you think about what you are trying to do I think you can see the problem with it. Everything is related to your homedrive or SystemRoot (Environment variable). If you could remove the C drive while you are on the C drive (your system is running on SystemRoot) then it would sort of be like having your flat tire fixed while you are on it driving to Grandmother's house. Ain't gonna happen. At least not without something screwing up. So count your blessings Windows didn't allow you to.
