Unmounted Boot Volume

Evening before last, I defragmenter my hard drive and set it to error
correct at next startup. After this was done, I restarted the computer -
and the computer now is in a reboot loop that will not allow itself to load.

There is a blue screen that flashes very fast that says something about an
error in loading and has the error "UNMOUNTED_BOOT_VOLUME" on it, but I
can't read it because the thing is only there for a half second or so each
time...

Anyway, I have tried unseating and reseating the cable to the hard drive (no
change).
The computer came preinstalled with Windows XP, and came with Restore
Disks - but no separate XP disk (I read earlier posts on this issue that
said to run chkdsk /r but there is no way to access the hard drive.)

Safe booting - reboot loop
Safe with networking - reboot loop
safe mode to command prompt - reboot loop
Last known good - reboot loop
normal - reboot loop

I have no startup disks as the computer did not come with any.

I really don't mind restoring the hard drive but I need to get the data off
of it first - HOW???

Is there any solutions to this problem that anyone can help with???

Thank you - Brandon

why not just use delete at bootup and see if your OS can auto detect the drives
?
2nd option F6 or was it F8 to select what to boot from ? I'd say boot from the
XP CD install disk, and just do a repair install. That doesn't lose any data.

I have clicked del to get into the menu - and the drive is detected... then
to select what to boot from - I have no XP disk (the version I have came
preinstalled on the computer and no separate disk came with it - I bought it
new retail from Best Buy.)
I have access to another XP disk (my buddy's) but was not thinking of using
it because I was worried about the product key issues with the one installed
vs the one installing... Guidance please?

Thank you for your reply.

If you have access to you friends XP disk, then follow my previous post.
Licensing is not an issue when utilizing Recovery Console.
