Hi,

I have been very much disappointed at the propect of any one using software
like PCLoginNow to disable to bypass my admin passwords and get to access to
my private data!
Is MS people are really that much shamelessly careless about Windows
security?

oc9ine.

No one needs software to bypass your password to get at your data.
There are easier ways.

This is all down to you not understanding how computer security works. This
is not operating system-dependent. Any computer running any operating
system can be accessed by someone with 1) physical access; 2) time; 3)
skill; 4) tools. Any operating system that has known holes and is on the
Internet unprotected by its owner with patches, firewalls, strong
passwords, etc. is vulnerable.

Note the words "any operating system". This means Windows operating systems,
Mac, Linux, and Unix.

If you just wanted to whinge, then get a better understanding of what you're
whinging about because otherwise you just look ignorant. If you seriously
have an issue and you'd like some free tech support, then post back with
pertinent details and someone may help you.

If I have your computer I OWN your data. Unless of course you used the
tools Microsoft provide to secure your data.(See EFS), then if I bypass
the password the data becomce completely inaccessable. It would seem
your so called "disappointment" is based on ignorance. So correct that
issue, and you will not be "disappointed".

You seem to be ignorant of one very simple, fundamental fact:

Without physical security, there is *NO* security. This is true of any
operating system, not just Microsoft's.

If you don't want someone getting at your data, make sure that they
cannot get at your computer.

PCLoginNow (and similar) merely provide access to the computer. Whether
you've left your data unprotected therein is entirely your fault.
