unlocked cells in a protected worksheet

I have my excel worksheet protected except for the cells
that will be used for data entry. In an older version of
excel, when I pressed the tab or enter key, I was
advanced to the next available unlocked cell. This
newest version of excel doesn't seem to do that. Is
there a way I can do this?

There's an option under tools|options|Edit Tab|move selection after enter that
might be set to stay put.

But when I tab in xl2002, I do follow that unlocked pattern.

(But if I had tools|options|transition tab|transition navigation keys checked
(an LOTUS 123 holdover), then it didn't work the way I expected.)
