Unlock a Sony Trinitron Multiscan G420

Hi all,

I was recently given a Sony Trinitron Multiscan G420 19" monitor to
replace my dying 19"CRT. I wasn't told that the display settings were
locked! Normally (according to the manual) one could access the menu and
unlock them, but even the menu button is locked! Has anyone found a way
to undo whatever has caused this?

TIA,

Ari

IIRR when Compaq monitor settings were locked,
unlocking them required pushing two buttons
simultaneously (rightmost and leftmost?) Only
then did the main menu button (oversize, middle
of five) revert to normal operationn.

That's doesn't work with this Sony.

There is a manual here, but I don't know if this is going
to help you. It gives the impression, that when control lock
is engaged, enough of the controls have to work, so that
the user can do the control unlock sequence again. If your
menu button is not working, maybe a cable assembly inside
the monitor is unplugged ? Or maybe whatever microcontroller
is used for buttons and OSD, is not working right.

The manual also says that the "reset" function, won't
clear the control lock.

No, the button works, it just brings up the key symbol on the OSD
meaning that it's locked! :( So, it works in that there's nothing
disconnected and the button press is acknowledged, it just doesn't get
me anywhere :(
