Unknown user

I discovered an unknown user name (S-1-5-21-18016745-746137067...) in
my user list of my shared drive. The icon is in white transparent
color. What does that means ? Pls advise

That user is a randomly created system user. Don't worry about it. It is a
standard thing for windows, and is just the hidden account windows uses for
some of it's system resources

This unknown user you speak of....are you seeing this by going to Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management >
System Tools > Shared Folders > Sessions ??
If so, what does it say under the Computer column for this particular user?

OR, are you looking in the permissions for the folder? If so, you can open
the registry and look in
HKEY_USERS\[insert user SID
here]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
to find out what profile loads for that user, and hence the "friendly" user
name

nerd, is this normal ? I rarely see this user account in other windows
2000 server. What if i delete it ?
