| Hello you all,
|
| I am not sure if I have a problem or not.
|
| I ran a scan with adaware and got rid of some harmless stuff. I then ran
| Pest Patrol and was told that I had something called "Unknown trojan" and
| its suppose to be a real item from what I could real, but it was a bit
| weird.
| I ran PC Cillin and it did not find a thing.
|
| What would you all suggest, is there a problem? (I have this on my Windows
| XP home computer, not the MAC ofcourse).
|
| Thank you in advance.

Please submit a sample of the suspect file to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against many different AV vendor's scanners.
That will give you an idea what it is and who recognizes it. In addition, unless told
otherwise, Virus Total will provide the sample to all participating vendors.

When you get the report, please post back the exact results.

And did Pest Patrol offer to get rid of it for $$$$?? If so, just ignore
it....it is false advertising of a sort. A lot of these pay programs
pretend you have malware just to get you to buy them. The fact that nothing
showed with kosher scanners is a clue.

Sorry about that.....I realized after that it was EZ Trust which I have used
for umpteen years, grin. I was thinking of another Pest one.

As long as you back up the Registry first, it shouldn't be a problem. But
if you are not familiar with it, perhaps a *geeky* friend could do it for
you.

PS.....your clock is out of whack, but I can't see why......are you on the
West Coast? Showing up as 3:14 am and it is 3 hours earlier.

Hello Heather,

No, it was a paid program from the same people who make ez antivirus. The
only removing instructions it gave were instructions for getting it out of
the registry, by hand, picking it out, it would not do it for you.

KInd of ticked me off. But I am running it by everything I can to make sure
I am clean.

I am still unsure as to where it is exactly.

Hmmm, not sure about the clock thing, it says 202am, and thats the time
here. Got any ideas?

Go into Date/Time Properties (try double clicking on the time in the taskbar)
and make sure you are set properly in Time Zone and Daylight Savings. At least
this works in Win98SE.

OK, will take a look at that.

By the way, the trojan seems to be "gone" now. Really weird.
