i cannot locate any info on what this process is, and i can't tell what it's
for or what it's doing. nothing comes up in a google search, or a MS
Knowledgebase search. can anyone tell me what this is, and if it's not
needed how to get rid of the darn thing.

thanks,
j

Do a Windows search for MKIODK.exe
Right-click on the file name and click Properties
You should get some clue as to what the process is part of.

If Google doesn't come up with anything, then it's a good bet it's
malware. Run a thorough check for malware using a variety of anti virus
and anti spyware / adware programs. Post back if you need more info on
what programs to run.
