unknown passwords

Malicious individual passworded certain portions of a
large Excel 2000 spreadsheet and destroyed backups. Don't
know password to be able to free cells. Realize MS
doesn't want to touch this - know of any third party
programs that can help?

Just google "excel password recover" without the quotes. There are some
commercial applications that perform this function.

Do you know if XL plans to upgrade its password protection? I know that
this issue has been an on-going concern for quite some time.
