when turning off my laptop I now get a message about
ending a program "End Prog hposo 108.exe" withoptions to
end wait end now. Why am I getting this process and what
is it

It could be part of a Hewlett Packard printer driver
routine (HP), or it could be some malware. Locate it
on your hard disk, rename it and see what happens.

Or righ-click | Properties and see if there is a version tab which will contain a copyright. No copyright you probably do not want it. But make sure you stop its call most likely here:

In Start | Run | regedit | OK

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

or same place in HKCU
