Unknown files appeared in my C drive

ah

I just noticed that a few new files appeared in my C drive and I would like
to know what they are:
Beside the gmail_headers and gmail_response ones that I suspect coming from
my gmail autoresponder, I see:
2 empty (0K) dat files
- infected.dat
- pending.dat
the following txt files
- LogiSetup.log 1k
- RUU.log 33k
- WMDesktop.log 28k
- WmpPpcItnSync.log 1k
- YServer.txt 1k

If anyone knows how they arrived in my computer, please help. Thank you in
advance.

WMDesktop.log 28k
- WmpPpcItnSync.log 1k
Both of these are from windows media player, not malware don't worry about
them.
YServer.txt 1k This should be from yahoo messenger, unless you don't want
yahoo to get access to your pc (acting like a server) I wouldn't be concerned.

infected.dat
- pending.dat More than likely these came from your antivirus software, again not to worry.

LogiSetup.log 1k

I was forced by a virus attack to uninstall some applications.
Now I am trying to reinstall but have not succeeded
During the process of installation, as soon as it reaches the end of slide
rule of Windows Installer, it show a box saying that set up has detected a
previous installation and I need to reboot to install the application.
I have rebooted many times, deleted all directories and even went to
register but all in vain.
May be the problem is in Windows Installer, which keeps some data from
previous installations, which was not detected and provoke this problem.
It is possible to have a Windows Installer customization which would avoid
this ?
If someone have had such event before, can assist me please ?

All depends on what program(s) you're trying to install????

Try the web site(s) for the particular program(s) - their FAQ/Help
might have hints on uninstall/removal options

Try running a program like ccleaner to se if that helps

Try WindowsXP Disk Cleanup option
