unknown decice??help please

Xp SP1
Laptop IBM

After clean install of XP Pro all ok except an "unknown device" is showing
in thedevice manager, with the yellow question mark symbol.
The location of this device is "on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded
Controller", according to the device properties.
"No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device" is given
on the Driver Details.
I am really a newby_ish senior citezen and understand that these device
manager problems require "sorting" for good running system?

TIA

ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller is making me think you have an internal
card reader or might be the wireless device if thats embedded??? Hard to
tell with out the model # of the laptop.
If so, the drivers for it should be in the software that originally came
with the PC. Keep in mind that it probably won't be the latest version of
the driver but it'l get it working until you can get internet access

Hope that helps
