Unknown artist always

I have been learning how to rip music and sync with an mp3 player. I have
never been able to see the name of the song or artist written in Windows
media player. It always says unknown artist and lists the track number...thus
my mp3 player is filled with track 1 (2) etc. I have been trying to research
the solution to the problem but have come up blank. Some are old
cd's.....but some are new cd's. They all should be recognized.

But they won't ever be all recognised with the Windowsmedia database, which
is far from complete and has plenty of errors. Type the data in manually in
these cases. Typing and correcting data on 3000 albums has had absolutely no
psychological effect on me whatsoever, right Neil?

Okay, I am not a lazy person.....but I was surprised that NONE of them were
recognized. Now tell me the process of typing in.......do I type it in when
the tracks show when you load the CD.....or after they are ripped.....? I
thought there might be a problem when the program did not recognize Rod
Stewart, Cher, Meatloaf, CCD....Russell Watson...so far, not one disk that I
have put in my computer has been recognized.
Thanks, Elaine

Assuming that you've not disabled automatic lookup, and that you've also
tried manual search, then it may just be a matter of the servers not
responding (in some cases for a period of weeks).

You can update the information from online sources or by manual typing at
any time.

I went into tools and clicked on the Library tab and checked "retreive
additional information from the internet'...then checked add information
which is under that. I do not know where it will say automatic lookup. I
thought that might be it. Also, I have tried to search the internet
manually, I think....when I click on get info...but the program continually
says that my privacy settings need to be changed. I have changed the privacy
settings to accept all cookies.....but that still doesn't satisfy whatever I
need, because it still won't seek additional info. Thank you

I am happy to say that it worked. The changes I made to auto update and
changing the cookies to accept all cookies made it work. Thank you. I am a
much happier camper.
