United Devices agent

I'm using the United Devices agent/screensaver
(www.grid.org) on XP Home. Everytime I log in,
AntiSpyware pops up and says "An unknown startup program
UD Agent requires approval". I always click Allow with
the "Send to Spynet" box checked, but it still comes up
each time. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks.

Are you logging in as an administrator on the machine?

I'm running this app on an XP Pro machine, without issue, but I don't switch
users very often.

One can deactivate each individual agent checkpoint--that's one way to get
rid of such prompts, but you then forego the protection of that checkpoint.

Yes, my account in XP Home is an administrator. This is
my family PC and there's an account for each on the
system, so there is quite a bit of switching users. Mine
is the only account using the UD Agent, though.

What verson of UD's client software?
If you right click on the icon in the system tray, and choose Open, then hit
the question mark in the lower right corner, then Help, Version, down at the
bottom I see Version 3.0.1

Mine is 3.0 (2814). I'll check if I can get a newer
release and see what that does.

The version you can download at www.grid.org is the same
as I already have.

OK - I found the 2814, so we're running the same code.

Did you install Microsoft Antispyware logged in as the same user that is
getting these notifications daily?

I should know more about the differences between Home and Pro--I don't have
any good ideas about how to fix this. Either your install is "bad"--in the
sense that user approvals aren't "sticking"--probably meaning getting
recorded somewhere, or this is a difference between Home and Pro.

I'd bet there are more folks running UD than the two of us, though, and more
on Home, as well--so I'd lean towards it being an issue in your particular
install--there seem to be a fair number of such subtle failures.

and the rote fixes for install peculiarities are: add or remove programs,
Microsoft antispyware, change, update

If that doesn't do it, uninstall and reinstall.

Aside from those things, wait for another beta release, unless somebody else
can chime in with better ideas?

Sometime I notice a "[_] Remember Always" at the very
bottom of the alert.
Try checking [x] this if it is provided.
