Uninstalling Windows XP

Installed Windows XP on my family computer then found out
that, since I bot it with my new home office PC, I can't
use it on any other. So now, I've got to get rid of
Windows XP on the family computer, within 25 days, or it
stops working.

The instructions given for un-installation say to
use "Add/Remove Program" in the Control Panel, but XP
doesn't show up in the program list there. How can I get
rid of XP, since MSFT won't allow its use on the 2nd
computer? Any info would be appreciated. Thx.

in order to uninstall windows xp u've got to format your
pc. type format c: at the command prompt (press F8) when
u on ur pc.

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.

Nothing new there. That's been the rule with *every* version of
Windows Sine 3.1. The only thing new with XP is that there's now
an enforcement mecahnism.

So now, I've got to get rid of
Windows XP on the family computer, within 25 days, or it

You can do it that way, only if the following three conditions
are met:

1. You installed it as an upgrade to a previous version.

2. You took the option to save the previous operating system.

3. You din't make your drive NTFS.

The reason it doesn't show up in the Add/Remove list is that one
or more of those conditions weren't met.

rid of XP, since MSFT won't allow its use on the 2nd
computer? Any info would be appreciated. Thx.

Your only choice is to reformat the drive, losing everything
there, and then reinstall another operating system. First backup
anything you need.
