Uninstalling SP2

I have XP Home Edition and I have installed SP2 and I want to know if I can
safely uninstall it using ADD/REMOVE. I cannot get AVG 7 to work. I've made
posts here as well as to the Grisoft's forum with no response. The only
other thing I can think to do is uninstall SP2, install AVG 7 and then
re-install SP2. I think the firewall is somehow blocking it because I cannot
get it to connect for updates although I have configured the firewall
according to the Grisoft's documentation. Any thoughts on this would be
appreciated.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+
512 MG DDR
XP Home Edition , SP2

Open firewall,then select exceptions,add program,add IE,then select,change
scope,select only youre computer and network,close,do the same for AVG7.
You can remove SP2,at top of add/remove,chk the box to show updates,then
select SP2.Its better if you dont remove SP2 if possible,its not the best for
the os.

I've done all this except changing the scope. Grisoft instructions didn't
mention that but I will try it. Thanks a lot!
