Uninstalling software

Hi,
I want to uninstall certain software that came preinstalled on my Vista
machine.
However, this software does not appear in the listing when I attempt to do
this via the Add/Remove software utility.

One of the applications is the pre-installed antivirus software, which
constantly comes up with annoying messages about renewing the subscription. I
already have an alternative package.

Anyone know how to remove this software cleanly?
Thanks!

Did you check to the see if the Antivirus program list its own uninstaller
under its Programs Group in the Start menu > All Programs? Have you checked
the developers website to find out information about uninstalling it? Which
brand AV is this by the way?

Some of these pre-installed software is nothing more than a Shortcut to the
installer for that program. Double-clicking it will install the software.

I definitely didn't install it, it was already installed and requires a
subscription to keep it up-to-date.
Thanks!

Some anti-virus software (such as Symantec who shall remain nameless) is
difficult to remove. Norton is the barnacle of the software world.

Be sure to visit the offending software's website for sooper-sekret removal
tools. Even then...
