Uninstalling programs

When I uninstall a program, how do I fix it so that if the system restore has
to be run, the program isn't put back where it was? For example, I no longer
have a use for Stopzilla, but every time I uninstall it, the system restore
has to be run for unrelated reasons and it puts Stopzilla right back where it
was :-P

Don't restore back to a point before you uninstalled the program. That's the only way.

Once you have the system running correctly you can purge (dump) all System
Restore Points and then start over again. Of course this means that all of
the previous ones are gone but you won't have to worry about the offending
app coming back unless you reinstall it again. To purge all of the points
right click on My Computer. Select Properties. From the screen select the
System Restore Tab. Check the box to Turn off System Restore and click
Apply. All points are now gone and cannot be retrieved. Next remove the
check mark from Turn off System Restore and click Apply. You will start
afresh with a new point.
