Uninstalling programmes in vista

Recently I uninstalled a programme in Vista (using Uninstall), for the
first time.

The Uninstall went well, but I expected to see the programme and the
files in the Recycle Bin. But they were absent.

My question is: What does Vista do with the programmes and files that
it uninstalls?

Thanks

OS is Windows Vista Home Premium (32bit)

No version of Windows put uninstalled applications into the recycle bin...
they are deleted "permanently" .

AFAIK the only thing that goes into the recycle bin without you putting it
there
are replaced files such as saving changes in an edited image (for example).

Thank you.

Best wishes.
