uninstalling mdac 2.6 RTM

C

Clare Milligan

I am currently running Version 5.0 (Build 2195: Service
Pack 4) and I need to uninstall mdac 2.6 RTM so that I can
install mdac 2.5 to be able to use a particular software
program.

I had no problems using the program about 6 months ago.
However, since then I have installed quite a few updates
from MS which has probably caused the error.

Can anyone please help!!!

Backing down on MDAC usually destroys the OS. You might ask the application
developer about this issue. I really doubt the version of MDAC is at fault.
If anything install the latest version and service pack.

I am having the exact same problem as you - I need to roll-back the
system to MDAC 2.5 as well as my web-application written in ASP that
connects to an Access DB has been running terribly slowly ever since I
installed MDAC 2.6

Did you get any other responses or figure out how to remove 2.6?

PRB: Error occurs when you try to rollback MDAC installation

Be warned that rolling back the MDAC version is the last thing that
should be attempted to get an application to work! In cases where an
application fails because of MDAC compatibility issues it is usually
easier to get rid of and the application than it is to rollback MDAC.
Rolling back MDAC may cause other software to malfunction and in the
case of Windows ME, if the rollback fails you will most likely have to
reinstall Windows!

Also note that jet components are no longer part of MDAC
