Uninstalling IPX stops DHCP

Hi! I have both TCP/IP and IPX/SPX/NetBIOS installed. To get better performance over my LAN, I tried to uninstall IPX. But after that I couldn't connect to my router anylonger. As I don't reach the DHCP server in the router I get an 169.x.x.x address. Repair of the Network connection fails. I've also tried to remove winsock and winsock2 from the registry and reinitiated the TCP/IP with the netch command. But it didn't help. The only thing that works i to return to an earlier system restore point.

Check the bindings on your protocols....you should only
be using TCP/IP to connect to the router. So make sure
TCP/IP is the only protocol bound to the network adapter
connecting your machine and the router.
