Uninstalling damage programs

Guest

I was unable to uninstall two programs that for some reason got corrupted.
I was unable to change on properties the "read only" status. I tried
several times to uncheck this selection, but after using applying and then
the OK button, it reverts back to "read Only" therefore, still can not remove
the old files to reinstall the programs.

PS
My Restore Feature, has been turned off for a long time.

If not resident in add/remove programs area, sometimes, an errant 3rd party
program can be removed by installing again, then removing normally after a
reboot.

Do you have another app with Restore features? If not, recommend
you turn yours back on now!

Thanks for your reply, but that is the problem, the corrupted files prevents
the new Installation. I get an error that says that the program has to be
uninstall before a new installation. By the way is my Quicken the one giving
me this headache

Using Add/Remove programs which invokes the uninstaller provided by the app
author, or the uninstall routine in the apps program folder removes the
application files and any registry settings. Removing app files by deleting
them w/o using the uninstaller can lead to a mess. So your best bet if it
won't uninstall and will not reinstall either, is to contact the tech
support for the programs that are problematic for help. They often times
have an uninstall utility or a FAQ with info on how to do it manually.
