Uninstalling 2007 Updates

I don't have the Office 2007 but I noticed when I updated my software, the
updates for the Outlook 2007 is there. I have installed the Office
Professional Edition 2003 and for some reason when I open up the Microsoft
Outlook, it says the file cannot be found, or it's been corrupted and another
messaging program has been installed. I have uninstalled the 2003 and
re-installed it. Went to office updates and installed the updates. Look on
update history and that's where I found the updates for the 2007. Could that
be why the Microsoft Outllook isn't installing right? Appreciate any help and
fast.

Hi Debbie,

I am seeking help myself, which is why I went to this group, but found
nothing to help me. However, on your issue, did you uninstall 2007 updates
before redoing your Office 2003? I am no expert on this, but it seems like
that might be part of the problem. It is certainly frustrating trying to get
your computer to cooperate.

Landon.

Hi Landon, I agree with you. I can't never find any help here. I just wonder
if I should uninstall the Office 2003 first before I uninstall the 2007
updates. I've been all over this website looking for answers so if you know
the answer, please write back to me. Thanks and thanks for replying.

Landon, I didn't know the 2007 updates were there until I install the Office
2003 and went to the Office Update website. That's where I found out they
were on my computer.

How about posting the whole error message so we don't have to guess what the
problem file might be?

Ok Hal, here's the error message!! "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook.
MAP132DLL is corrupt or the wrong versin. This could have been caused by
installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook." I have done
this and plus all I wanted to know if I could uninstall the Office 2007
Updates since I don't have the Office 2007 any longer.

Hi Again,

I would uninstall 2007 Updates first, then check functionality of Office
2003, and uninstall/reinstall only if needed. Please understand that this is
not exactly the blind leading the blind, but it does approximate the
partially-sighted leading the visually-impaired.

If you are going to be able to open email attachments which use Word 2007,
then you will probably have to install some 2007 updates eventually.
However, in my view, your first priority should be to clean out the current
updates first. My "uninstall" menu showed a whole list of 2007 updates, but
there was one main 2007 program that I uninstalled and everything else went
with it. At least, I think it did.

May the Light be with you.

Try this:

1) Navigate to Program Files....Common Files....System.....MSMAPI....1033.
There is the file MSMAPI32.DLL.

2) Rename this file to MSMAPI32.OLD.

3) Start Outlook 2003. It should rebuild MSMAPI32.DLL

How do I uninstall Microsoft Office for students and Microsoft Office 2007?
Please help me get these two "trials" off my laptop. Where is the
uninstall.exe? I will find something else to download temporarity until I can
make a purchase rather than be up late at night, again, trying to uninstall
these from my Vista Gateway Laptop. I only need MS Word or somebody's similar
software applications. What is happening that uninstall is not in our MS
office software anymore? thanks

'Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs', find Microsoft Office, click the
"Change/Remove" button.
