Uninstalled firefox - cannot place a hotmail shortcut on desktop

I made the very foolish mistake of trying Mozilla firefox. After two months
of continously goiing back to IE, I uninstalled it. Now when I place a
shortcut to hotmail on my desktop, I get a popup error message that says the
application that created it is needed. When I asked the Web to find it,
nothing happens and I see nothing on the optional list that might have
created it.

Could someone please tell me what I can do?

Thanks, Bill

Nothing to do with Firefox, sounds like you are not creating the hotmail
shortcut correctly
Open IE, type www.hotmail.com in address bar, assuming your sign in page
opens, copy & drag the web address to your desktop.
PS insure IE is selected as default in Internet Options
