Uninstalled MSAS beta for the second time since it was released. I ran
registry searches ( giant....antispy.....etc ) and also deleted nearly 900
entries there.

That's almost obscene for a little half finished anti-spyware program. :)

I've heard someone with far more knowledge about Windows than I have ask
"How many registry entries are too many?" The implication being that the
registry is designed to handle what it is being used for.

I know there's a lot of received wisdom about this issue, but are there
objective tests that show that the registry is really being misused, and
that all our machines would run faster if the registry was "cleaned"
regularly?
