Does this software have any real benefit?

I have installed MSAS a couple of times since it's initial beta release, and
have been
reading these newsgroups as well, and it seems that people have more trouble
with the software than good things to report about it. I realize it is still
in beta, but for me it has never found any instances of adware or spyware.
Does it only look for spyware? I also use Spybot S/D and SpywareBlaster, and
Spybot has found spyware/adware on my computer. Right now I have MSAS
uninstalled and plan to keep it that way until I start to hear that it is
finding and removing what it was intended to find/remove.

Any know spyware Microsoft AntiSpyware is not detecting you should ensure
that you send a Suspected Spyware Report from the Tools menu in MSAS. The
current recommendation for using the beta 1 release of MSAS is doing most
scans in safe mode with and also using third party AntiSpyware utilities in
conjunction with it such as Adaware, Spybot Search and Desktop and Spy
Sweeper.

There is more to look forward to though, BETA 2 should present that to you,
so still hang in there. Also, ensure that you are doing your scans under a
Administrator account, the current beta 1 release does not support limited
user accounts, this will be fixed in beta 2.

Many comparative reviews--most recently one in Consumer Reports--published
sometime in the last 4 months as I recall--have rated Microsoft Antispyware
among the top rated antispyware programs.

It goes for the genuinely nasty stuff--not cookies, for example.

Support newsgroups are full of people with problems--that's the nature of
this kind of forum. Count all the posts in all of these groups, which are
linked to in Help in the product.

Now--consider that there are more than 18,000,000 active installs of
Microsoft Antispyware.

There are a few (in fact, an overwhelming majority of) users who don't have
enough problems with the product to ever think of asking a question here.

I have used this program since it first came out and would not be without
it.Now that my system is clean I am used to '0' results from the scan. The
only thing that ad-aware finds these days are cookies and the only thing that
spybot comes up with most of the time are registry issues relating to M/S
Security Centre because I have customised settings.I think personally that
the reason some people have problems is because of the way they have their
machines set up.Not because of any major faults with the program.

Hi

YES, a lot of benefits !

but it´s a major problem which is a challenge to solve.....

How to deal with all trojan.downloaders which plants a lot of
ad/spyware ?

Is it MSAS or the antivirusshield which should remove "the carrier" ?

The gap is now often solved with Ewido.
